We are in a difficult period following the Covid-19 events, this article is there to help people resident in Canada.

NEWS 04/08: New Case ==> you could be elligible for case 4.

What are the eligibility criteria?

First of all, you must be over 15 years of age and have stopped working because of COVID and NOT HAVE RESIGNED. 3 cases are eligible for this emergency aid:

  • You earned $ 5,000 CAD in the past 12 months (all sources)

  • You earned CAD $ 5,000 in 2019 (all sources)

  • You earned the equivalent of $ 5,000 CAD in a country outside Canada in the past 12 months or in 2019 and currently you are RESIDENT OR CITIZEN in Canada.

  • You earned the equivalent of $ 5,000 CAD in a country outside Canada in the last 4 months preceding March 15 (example for work Holiday Visa).

Example : I am Canadian, I worked in France until January 2020, mid February, I found a job in Canada that I lost because of the Covid in mid-March. So I can cumulate my salaries between Canada and France for the request.

Other special cases if you have not lost your job (always understanding the rule of $ 5,000 earned above):

  • working hours reduced to 0

  • you have to take care of people or the sick at COVID

  • you have to take care of your children or dependents whose establishments have closed due to COVID

How much and for how long?

The assistance is unique, it is $ 2,000 CAD paid every 4 weeks ($ 500 CAD per week) regardless of the salary you earned. You can receive this benefit for 16 weeks, from March 15, 2020 to October 3, 2020.
